Embark on a 10-Days Classic Flying Circuit of Madagascar: Antananarivo, Mandrare River Camp, Fort Dauphin, Manafiafy Beach, Rainforest Longe
Magnificent cultures, the unmatched Spiny Forest, a variety of endemic lemur species, and some of the best whale sightings can all be found in the southern part of Madagascar. A taste of what this most unusual island has to offer is provided by this itinerary. Add a trip to Andasibe if you have time to see more lemurs and distinctive jungles.
Have a great trip!
When you arrive at the airport, your personal guide will meet you and drive you to your Antananarivo, or Tana, lodging.
You are going to have the rest of the day to yourself.
You'll be taken back to Ivato Airport this morning to catch your trip to Ifotaka, which will take two to three hours. You will be met and taken to your opulent riverfront camp upon arrival.
Head out for a guided night stroll in the Forest of Zenavo in the evening to see owls, chameleons, mouse lemurs, and sifakas, among other nocturnal creatures.
Highlights of this excursion include seeing Verreaux's sifaka and ring-tailed lemurs. After breakfast, your guide will take you south across the Mandrare River to the Sacred Gallery Forest to see the fauna and vegetation.
You will go into the Sacred Spiny Forest to observe its unusual flora and wildlife and view the Antandroy tribe's ancestral tombs after lunch and an afternoon spent by the pool.
Enjoy sundowners while watching the river as the day comes to an end.
You visit the Spiny Forest at dawn this morning, so get an early start. Keep an eye out for native birds including the running coua, several vanga species, and the crested coua. After breakfast, return to the camp and meet the local tribespeople by going to the market or an Antandroy village.
Enjoy a sundowner under the baobab trees after lunch and a free afternoon. The Antandroy tribe will then perform live with song and dancing.
Take a full-day journey to Lac Anony, a saltwater lake bounded by sand dunes that separates it from the Indian Ocean. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the lakeside, climb the dunes for sweeping views, see salt-water birds, such as greater flamingos, and cool off with a swim in the lake.
After a 25-minute flight to Fort Dauphin, you will be met by a guide and driven for approximately 2.5 hours to the Manafiafy Beach and Rainforest Lodge.
After relaxing in your beach hut, take a guided sunset stroll through the coastal rainforest of South Madagascar, which is home to about 80 different species of birds and five different types and subspecies of lemurs.
At camp, you will go to the Stitch Project after breakfast. The project was started by a local NGO with the goal of giving Antanosy women in the area a stable source of income by teaching them business, English, and needlework. You will have the chance to meet the women, observe them at work, and purchase their goods.
After a leisurely day at camp and a three-course meal, take a motorboat tour of the nearby mangrove network, which is a great experience for photographers, botanists, and birdwatchers.
You get up early again today to go for a dawn stroll around the seaside woodland. Red-collared lemur groups and a variety of bird species, such as gigantic coua, hook-billed vanga, and larger and lesser vesa parrots, can be seen here.
After breakfast and some downtime, head back to the resort in the late afternoon to go view the flying fox, the largest bat in Madagascar, which is located in a nearby forest.
Spend a leisurely morning at the lodge. Two extra-charged activities are available to you: deep sea fishing and whale viewing.
You will visit a local Antanosy village after lunch, where you will engage with the fishermen and their families and learn about their culture. Enjoy sundowners while taking in views of Manafiafy Bay as you wrap up the adventure.
Today you’ll be escorted to Fort (Douglas) Dauphin Airport for the flight to Tana, where you’ll catch your onward flight.
